Monthly Artist Features | Snap You're It!

There are some people in the world who have the ability to look at the world and know that it could be captured in a photograph; I am not one of those people. However, I discovered the incredibly talented photographer, Hene Tayeb. She has a way of capturing the world around us in a way that tells us a story while also appealing to our emotional desire to view our world at peace.

I had a chance to visit with Hena this week, here is what she had to say.

Sewmantra Blog (SB): What is your art and how did you learn it?
Hena (H): I am a photographer. I took it as a minor in college and once I started I just couldn't stop.

(SB): What do you think is the most interesting thing about your creative expression?
(H): What is interesting is how I am reflected in my work. I do not fit the stereotypical description of a free spirited artist. I am an organized, list making planner. There is a system to everything.. and that system, that organization can be seen in my work. The geometry, the symmetry and repetition is often a dominating theme in my photographs.

(SB): What circumstances led you to sell your art/creations online?
(H): I was fresh out of college, married and relocating. I wanted to enjoy that early married life and not jump into a job. I stumbled upon Redbubble.com where I started to upload some of my work and I got such a positive reaction from complete strangers; it gave me the confidence to put myself out there more and four years later here I am.

(SB): If you could use only 5 words to describe your work, what would they be and why?
(H): Travel, Architectural, Graphic, Bold, Pattern. Because I love to travel, architecture inspires me and my photographs are rich with bold, graphic patterns.

(SB): If you could be any type of camera, what would you be and why?
(H): A canon dslr, which is what I use. Mainly because there is no waste. There is no need for film and printing and wastage of paper... everything is digital leaving behind no paper trail.

(SB): If someone want's to buy something from you, how do they find you?
(H): Here is where you can find me...
